About Trusses & Panels

TRUSTED since 1993
Younger Brothers Logo White

Younger Brothers Components was founded in 1993 ushering in a new era of Younger Brothers’ turnkey service offerings.

Building with components - prefabricated roof trusses, floor trusses and wall panels are the most time and cost-effective way to build high-quality structures. Builders using components, rather than the traditional ‘stick - conventional’ building method, have reported an up to 33% reduction in cycle time.

The U.S. NAHB (National Association of Home Builders) agrees that using components accelerates the framing process, thereby cutting down on labor costs and cycle time.

We participate in TPI’s (Truss Plate Institute) third party quality assurance inspection program, so you can rest assured that we deliver the best components available anywhere.

You can trust Younger Brothers Components to provide you with materials that are designed and manufactured to the highest-quality standards in the industry, every time, without exception.

Our pledge is to give you excellent products and exceptional service.

Roof Trusses

From large-scale housing projects to a single, custom-designed truss, no job is too large, small or irregular for our expert design technicians. Our perfectly engineered and manufactured roof trusses will save you time, money and headaches, as well as allow for a greater range of design.

Floor Trusses

Just like our roof trusses, our floor trusses will save you time, money and hassle, but they also allow space for easy installing of plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems. Not only that, but floor trusses provide higher quality floors with no squeaks and less ‘bounce’.

Wall Panels

Panelized construction has been taking hold among professional builders due to its incredible efficiency and superior quality. The interior and exterior panels built in our manufacturing facility are precisely measured, cut and assembled using the latest technology; offer consistent stud/hardware placement; result in less waste and theft; are always up to code and can be installed quickly, reducing cycle time by nearly 35%.

Architectural Features

Our prefabricated offerings don’t end with roofs, floors and walls. Younger Brothers Components also manufactures stairs, arches, arched openings, pop-outs, round walls, radius walls, etc. If you can dream it, we can build it!

FAQ's

What is a truss?

Simply put, a truss is a framework comprised of wooden, composite or metal beams held together by metal fastening plates that act as a support for structures like roofs and floors. The top members are called ‘top chords’, the bottom members are called ‘bottom chords’ and the interior members make up the ‘web’. Many trusses are named according to their web configuration which, along with chord size, is determined by span, load and spacing.

What is the difference between a roof truss and a floor truss?

Roof trusses are typically triangular in shape, but can be designed in many configurations to support any type of roof. The ‘pitched’ or ‘common’ truss is most widely used, but other types include dual pitch, vault, scissors, room-in-attic, gambrel, bowstring, etc.

Floor trusses or ‘open web’ trusses consist of parallel top and bottom chords connected by ‘open’ webbing that allows space for HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems. Other benefits include reduced framing time, waste and call-backs, as well as high-quality, squeak-free floors with less ‘bounce’.

What if my plans are atypical and call for custom trusses?

Younger Brothers Components’ highly skilled and experienced technicians are available to design trusses for any job type or size, from a single custom truss to large volume tract projects.

What is a wall panel?

A wall panel is a precisely engineered, measured, cut and assembled section of wall that is manufactured in a controlled environment rather than on-site. Benefits include greater nailing/framing precision as well as less build time, labor costs, waste and theft.

Does Younger Brothers Components deliver?

Absolutely! We maintain our own fleet of trucks and roll-off trailers so you can rest assured your materials will arrive on time, in great shape and properly placed.

Will building with components (trusses and wall panels) vs. ‘stick’ building really save me time and money?

In 1996, the SBCA (Structural Building Components Association, formerly known as WTCA) built two identical 2,600 sq. ft. houses, one using components and the other using the traditional ‘stick’ building (entirely on-site) method. The home built with components took 63% less man hours and $3,356 less to erect than the ‘stick’ built.
